During six years in the Army, Ian started collecting and shooting. A keen outback hunter, dirt biker and four-wheel driver, he was awarded a grant by the Australian War Memorial for a study on Australian firearms in 1975. This resulted in ‘Australian Service Longarms’, ‘Australian Service Bayonets’ and ‘Australian Service Machine Guns’. Ian lived in London for one and a half years during 1980-81, researching and cataloguing at the Tower of London, Imperial War Museum, National Army Museum, Enfield Pattern Room and Public Records Office.
Active with collector and military shooting organizations, Ian worked on film documentaries in Cambodia and Vietnam in the mid-1980s and was CEO of Movie Ordnance Qld., hiring firearms out for films such as ‘Mission Impossible’, ‘Fortress’ and ‘Sahara’. He was also licensed as an explosives technician. Ian was appointed a valuer for the Australian Government Taxation Incentives to the Arts Scheme, Fellow of the Institute of Australian History and Arts and was recipient of the British Arms & Armour Society medal in 1995.
Ian has authored and published about 100 military books since 1976, producing the International Arms & Militaria Collector magazines from 1995. He is noted for studies on Enfield rifles, in particular the Snider, Martini and Lee-Enfield families. Living on the Gold Coast in sunny Queensland, Ian and wife Su travel to North America and Europe regularly for research, photography and promotions; they are now venturing into the field of documentary films.

I purchased what I believe to be a Mk III* HT yesterday. If anyone can check the serial number of the rifle I purchased against know serial numbers of HT snipers as published in a Skennerton book, or any other reputable source, I would greatly appreciate the confirmation.

It came with two scopes, one being serial numbered in electro pencil to the serial number of the rifle.
The serial number is 844886.
The rifle is in 'excellent plus' condition. If it is legit, I got a great deal.
